San Diego, CA – Three-Vehicle Crash on I-5 S/SeaWorld Causes Injuries
San Diego, CA (January 1, 2026) – A three-vehicle collision with injuries occurred on I-5 southbound just north of SeaWorld, near Tecolote Road, on New Year’s Eve, December 31. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash involved three vehicles. CHP officers arrived to find a gray Nissan sedan and a black sedan with visible collision damage, along with a third vehicle stopped nearby.
One occupant of the gray Nissan complained of head pain but declined ambulance transport after being evaluated at the scene, but was later transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Tow trucks were dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles, and traffic was heavily congested as officers worked to clear the southbound lanes.
Additional crash damage was reported farther south near the I-8 interchange, compounding delays. CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
We wish all those injured a swift recovery.
