San Diego, CA – Two-Vehicle Collision on I-5 Near SR-163 Causes Injuries

San Diego, CA (August 17, 2025) – A two-vehicle accident with injuries was reported on the northbound Interstate 5 just south of SR-163 on Sunday, August 17. The crash involved a silver Toyota sedan and a gray Toyota Camry that stalled in the traffic lanes, leading to a collision that left one driver outside of their vehicle when authorities arrived. The Freeway Service Patrol temporarily closed the incident to assist in clearing vehicles.

Paramedics responded to treat those involved, though they still haven’t confirmed the number of individuals transported to hospitals. The San Diego Police Department assisted with traffic control as tow services cleared the roadway. Investigators are working to determine what led to the stalled vehicle and subsequent crash.
