Santa Fe Springs, CA – Crash on I-5 N Near Rio Hondo River Injures Motorist
Santa Fe Springs, CA (January 22, 2026) – A collision involving a semi-truck and a gray Hyundai Elantra resulted in injuries on Tuesday, January 21, on I-5 northbound near the Rio Hondo River in Santa Fe Springs, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred just south of Slauson Avenue and led to lane blockages during the afternoon hours. CHP logs indicate that the sedan and semi-truck came to rest on the right shoulder, while one northbound lane remained blocked for an extended period.
Fire personnel were already on scene when the incident was upgraded to an injury collision, and an ambulance was requested. The injured motorist was evaluated and later transported to a nearby hospital for additional medical care. CHP is continuing to investigate the events leading up to the crash.
