Santa Fe Springs, CA – Two-Vehicle Injury Crash on I-5/Rio Hondo River

Santa Fe Springs, CA (January 27, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near the Rio Hondo River resulted in injuries late Monday night, January 26, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The collision occurred on the right shoulder of the freeway shortly before midnight.

CHP officers responded to reports involving a black BMW 220i and a blue Kia. One of the drivers reported pain following the crash, prompting authorities to request an ambulance. Fire personnel evaluated the injured party at the scene before transport arrangements were made for additional medical assessment.

Due to the location of the crash, vehicles were moved off the freeway to a nearby surface street near Telegraph Road and Gage Road to reduce traffic hazards. Tow trucks assisted with vehicle removal while officers documented the scene.
