Tacoma, WA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5/Tacoma Dome Leaves Injuries
Tacoma, WA (October 14, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision involving a tanker truck and several cars caused injuries on I-5 near the Tacoma Dome early Tuesday morning, October 14. The Washington State Department of Transportation reported the crash around 6:26 a.m. in the southbound lanes. According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts, the crash began when a black sedan attempted a dangerous lane change and struck a pickup truck. The pickup rotated into a semi-trailer, and one of the vehicles became wedged beneath an empty tanker truck.
At least one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was evaluated at the scene before receiving additional medical care. The crash led to the closure of two right lanes on southbound I-5, causing significant traffic delays during the morning commute.
Tow trucks and cleanup crews worked for several hours to clear the roadway. Washington State Patrol is investigating the crash to determine what led to the reckless maneuver and the chain-reaction impact.
