Tumwater, WA – Semi-Truck Crash on I-5 Near Custer Way, Causes Injuries
Tumwater, WA (November 5, 2025) – A major traffic incident involving a semi-truck and four additional vehicles caused injuries on northbound Interstate 5 near Custer Way on Wednesday, November 5. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), the crash happened around 12:14 p.m. at milepost 104. Trooper Daniel Southard stated that the semi-truck struck a right-side barrier before jackknifing across lanes, blocking traffic and triggering a four-car collision in the resulting backup.
Paramedics transported one individual from the secondary crash to a nearby hospital for precautionary evaluation. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. Both crashes forced the closure of two northbound lanes until about 1:36 p.m. while crews cleared the wreckage and investigators examined the scene. Authorities noted that this stretch of I-5 has recently seen multiple semi-truck accidents under wet conditions.
The Washington State Patrol is continuing its investigation into both incidents to determine contributing factors.
