Bakersfield, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5 S/Grapevine Rd Leaves Injuries
Bakersfield, CA (September 18, 2025) – Several people sustained injuries following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 southbound near Grapevine Road on Thursday afternoon, September 18.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident was reported at around 12:21 p.m. in the number one lane. Four vehicles, including passenger cars and an SUV, collided in a chain-reaction crash. Officials confirmed that multiple individuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics arrived shortly after the collision to evaluate the victims, and at least one person was transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. Others were treated at the scene.
Traffic in the southbound lanes quickly became congested as crews worked to assist victims and clear the damaged vehicles. Several lanes were closed for more than an hour before authorities reopened the roadway. CHP officers are still investigating the events that led to the accident.
