Carlsbad, CA – Motorcycle Injury Crash on I-5 S/Lomas Santa Fe Dr

Carlsbad, CA (December 18, 2025) – A serious motorcycle-involved crash with injuries occurred on I-5 South near Lomas Santa Fe Drive on Wednesday, December 17. California Highway Patrol reported that a black Mercedes SUV collided with a motorcycle, causing the rider to be thrown into the center divider. The motorcycle came to rest in the HOV lanes, creating a significant traffic hazard.

Fire crews located the rider, injured but conscious, and provided immediate medical care before transport to a nearby hospital. Multiple lanes, including the HOV and fast lanes, were temporarily blocked. Tow trucks were requested as CHP secured the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
