Federal Way, WA – Firefighter and Driver Injured in I-5 Crash Involving Fire Truck
Federal Way, WA (September 21, 2025) – A firefighter and another motorist were hospitalized after a sedan collided with a parked fire truck on Interstate 5 southbound early Sunday morning, September 21. Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported that the crash happened around 6:00 a.m. in Federal Way, where crews had been responding to an earlier rollover DUI crash.
Investigators say the sedan’s driver struck the stationary fire truck for reasons still under investigation. One firefighter inside the truck and the driver of the sedan both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are expected to recover.
No arrests were made, and troopers noted there was no evidence of impairment. WSP officials highlighted the dangers of drowsy driving, stressing that it can be as hazardous as impaired driving. Tow trucks later removed the damaged vehicles, and traffic resumed in the affected lanes.
We send our best wishes for a full recovery to those hurt in this collision.
