San Diego, CA – Injuries Reported in I-5 Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Imperial Ave.
San Diego, CA (September 21, 2025) – Several people were injured in a three-vehicle collision late Sunday night, September 21, on Interstate 5 southbound near Imperial Avenue. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the accident happened around 10:51 p.m. and involved a black Toyota sedan and a white box truck, with a third vehicle later confirmed to have been struck in the chain-reaction crash.
CHP units arrived to find multiple lanes blocked, prompting a full SigAlert as all southbound lanes were temporarily stopped. Paramedics assessed victims at the scene and transported at least one person to a nearby hospital for additional care. Authorities said none of the reported injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
Tow trucks were requested to remove the heavily damaged vehicles, and traffic was backed up for over an hour as crews cleared the roadway. Investigators are working to determine what led up to the crash. We wish those hurt in this accident a quick recovery.
