Milton, WA – Trooper and Civilian Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on I-5 SB Near Porter Way
Milton, WA (October 18, 2025) – A suspected DUI driver was arrested early Thursday morning, October 16, following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 southbound near Porter Way that injured a Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper and another person.
Authorities reported that the crash happened shortly after midnight, when a trooper was conducting a traffic stop along I-5. While the trooper’s patrol vehicle was stationary, the suspect’s vehicle struck it and another car involved in the initial stop. The impact caused significant damage, sending debris across the roadway.
Both the trooper and the individual who had been stopped were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released. The suspected impaired driver was taken into custody at the scene and is now facing DUI-related charges.
The southbound lanes of I-5 were shut down for several hours during the investigation, but reopened around 4:00 a.m.
The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the crash and determine the full circumstances leading up to the collision.
