San Diego, CA – Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5 S/28th St Exit Leaves Injuries
San Diego, CA (October 16, 2025) – A crash involving two vehicles on I-5 southbound near the 28th Street exit resulted in injuries late Wednesday morning, October 15. The collision occurred close to National Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a gray SUV and a silver Toyota Prius.
Emergency dispatch indicated that the parties exited at 28th Street and stopped along the shoulder near the 2600 block of National Avenue. Fire department personnel arrived on the scene shortly afterwards to assist those involved. One of the passengers in the Prius, a child, was reportedly taken by a family member to seek medical treatment. Another occupant complained of neck pain and was evaluated by first responders.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the total number of injured individuals or whether hospital transport was required beyond the initial reports.
CHP and local fire crews helped manage the scene and coordinated vehicle removal from the shoulder. Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash.
