Oceanside, CA – Injury Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5/San Onofre Nuclear Plant

Oceanside, CA (August 10, 2025) – On the afternoon of August 9, a serious collision involving a black SUV and a white sedan occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the San Onofre Nuclear Plant. The crash occurred shortly before 1:50 p.m., prompting a rapid response from the California Highway Patrol and local emergency crews. Witnesses reported that the SUV and sedan collided during heavy weekend traffic, causing both vehicles to sustain visible front-end damage.

First responders provided on-site medical evaluations for the occupants, with several people treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic in the area slowed to a crawl as authorities worked to secure the scene. Officers from the CHP’s San Diego division documented the crash site and began investigating the cause.
