Oceanside, CA – Two-Vehicle Injury Crash on I-5 Near SR-78

Oceanside, CA (December 18, 2025) – A two-vehicle injury collision occurred on Interstate 5 North near State Route 78 in Oceanside on Wednesday afternoon, December 17. California Highway Patrol reports indicate the crash involved a gold Toyota Camry and a smaller compact vehicle near the Las Flores on-ramp. Both vehicles came to rest on the right-hand shoulder following the impact.

CHP officers and the Oceanside Fire Department responded, temporarily blocking two right lanes while medical crews assisted the injured. At least one person was treated at the scene and later transported to a local medical facility. Tow trucks were requested as crews worked to clear debris. The collision caused brief delays as lanes were gradually reopened.

CHP is investigating whether reckless driving played a role.
