Sacramento, CA – Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving Two Semis Injures Motorists on I-5 S
Sacramento, CA (October 1, 2025) – A serious traffic collision involving two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck caused injuries on I-5 southbound near John Sutterville Road in South Sacramento early Wednesday afternoon, October 1. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred just after 1:15 p.m. when the two big rigs reportedly slowed for congestion, and a pickup truck became trapped between them in a chain-reaction impact.
CHP officers and Sacramento Fire personnel arrived to find the pickup with heavy rear-end and front-end damage. At least one occupant was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a nearby trauma center for further evaluation. Other individuals involved were treated roadside for minor to moderate injuries. Officials have not yet released the names of the victims.
The southbound lanes were partially closed for over an hour as tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles and crews cleared spilled cargo from one of the trailers. Investigators are reviewing what contributed to the crash.
