San Diego, CA – Hit-and-Run Crash on I-5 S/La Jolla Village Causes Injuries
San Diego, CA (November 20, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash involving a suspected hit-and-run driver caused injuries on Thursday afternoon, November 20, on I-5 southbound just north of La Jolla Village Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego Police, a gray Toyota Corolla, a white Tesla, and a beige SUV were involved.
Responders confirmed five occupants were involved, and at least one person suffered moderate injuries requiring immediate on-scene medical assessment. CHP investigators reported signs of blue paint transfer on one of the vehicles, suggesting the suspect’s car may have fled southbound with significant front-end damage. Units searched nearby on-ramps in an effort to locate the vehicle.
Tow trucks eventually arrived to clear the disabled vehicles, and a traffic-management team oversaw lane safety until the freeway was fully reopened. Investigators are reviewing witness accounts and vehicle debris to identify the fleeing driver.
We send our well-wishes to those injured and hope for a smooth recovery.
