Santa Clarita, CA – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5/Magic Mountain Pkwy.

Santa Clarita, CA (January 6, 2026) – A fatal multi-vehicle collision shut down portions of I-5 in Santa Clarita early Tuesday morning, January 6, after a serious crash involving multiple commercial vehicles. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Magic Mountain Parkway exit. Preliminary reports indicate that several vehicles were involved, including at least two box trucks. CHP officers arrived to find debris scattered across the roadway and lanes completely blocked. One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin. Due to the severity of the crash, multiple northbound lanes remained closed for several hours as investigators documented the scene and crews worked to safely remove the damaged vehicles. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
