Woodburn, OR – Wrong-Way Crash on I-5 S Leaves One Dead

Woodburn, OR (August 26, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred early Tuesday morning, August 26, on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Woodburn. Oregon State Police confirmed that the crash happened at approximately 4:22 a.m. between Keene Road Northeast and Concomly Road Northeast. Investigators reported that a driver traveling the wrong way on I-5 collided head-on with another vehicle. The impact was severe, leaving one person dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased pending family notification.

First responders arrived quickly and shut down multiple lanes while conducting an initial assessment. Crews worked to secure the scene and assist surviving occupants, who were evaluated for injuries. One person was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Troopers from the Oregon State Police remained on-site for several hours to collect evidence and determine what led the driver to enter the freeway in the wrong direction. The collision left significant debris scattered across the roadway, forcing traffic delays until the lanes were reopened.
